Activities nearby

Finding a pruning course, seed swap, plant fair or open garden, signing up or helping out, and organising an activity yourself.

Under Activities nearby (in the menu under Nearby) you find what’s on near you: a pruning course, a seed and plant swap, a plant market, an open garden or a clean-up. Anyone can see the list; to sign up or organise something yourself, you need an account.

Finding something

  • If you have a garden on the map, you see what’s on within 50 km of your garden. With Use my location you search from where you are now.
  • Choose a kind: Course or workshop, Seed and plant swap, Plant fair or market, Open garden or guided tour, Nature work or clean-up or Something else.
  • Tap an activity for the details, the place (with a link to the map), the price and how many places are still free.

Signing up or helping

  1. Choose Sign up, fill in how many of you are coming and, if you like, a note for the organiser.
  2. The organiser gets a notification. When the activity is full, you can’t sign up any more.

If the organiser is looking for helpers, choose I’ll help. Can’t make it after all? Choose Cancel my place: your place becomes free.

On the morning of the activity and the day before, it’s in your reminder every morning. It’s also in your agenda and in the calendar feed, with the place and a reminder two hours before. If the day, time or place changes, or the activity is cancelled, you get a notification.

Organising something yourself

  1. Choose Organise an activity.
  2. Fill in the kind, a title, the day and the time.
  3. Choose Where?: search for an address or place, or pick one of your gardens.
  4. Optionally fill in a maximum number of places, a price and the details (what people will learn, what to bring, where to park). Tick I’m looking for helpers if you could use a hand.
  5. Choose Organise.

On your activity you see Who’s coming: the names, how many of them and their note. Only you see that list. You can edit or cancel the activity; everyone signed up gets a notification.

Good to know

The place of an activity is public: choose an address everyone may see. You can organise up to 20 activities at a time.
